With each passing day, São Paulo is closer to the leader position in the 2007 Brazilian Championship — after the last round-up, during which Sao Paulo won over América-RN by an 1-0 score, while Botafogo was defeated by Cruzeiro, 3-2, the team from São Paulo city has now the same 28 points that the team from Rio de Janeiro has, with Botafogo having the advantage of the amount of goals scored on their favor.

On recent times, São Paulo has improved, and Botafogo had some decrease on its performance. Such things can be expected in the Brazilian Championship, a highly difficult tournament even with most of the best Brazilian players away in the Europe. Even so, the overall quality of the teams is good and balanced, and the current position of São Paulo and Botafogo is hardly a guarantee of certain victory.

Teams such as Vasco, Fluminense, Grêmio, Internacional and other are getting momentum and anyone of those can have good chances for championship. Others like Palmeiras, Santos and Cruzeiro are not having great campaigns so far but no one can say that they are already out of the race. Meanwhile, some like Corinthians are in really bad shape, but particular about Corinthians, which has a lot to worry about not only in the field, but outside of it as well.
