Today, after its 2-0 victory over Grêmio at the Olimpico Stadium in Porto Alegre, and the tie of Botafogo with Paraná Clube, São Paulo is in the top on the position table with 34 points, two more than Botafogo. Still, the position of both may change as they will face each other next Wednesday, at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

São Paulo did not played a great game, but it was efficient and on its two better chances for goal in the match, the team managed to score in both times, goals by Borges and Tardelli. Grêmio keep the pressure over São Paulo, but they had difficulties to pass by São Paulo defense area, one of the best in the tournament so far.

Tardelli has impressed me, he showed a lot of will to fight in the field, something that I was wishing that he would give us, as he had showed before the potential to be a great player, perhaps one of the best of the 2007 Brazilian Championship. He has the talent, but needs to keep the desire to play with passion that now he shows.

Also worthy of note is the fact that São Paulo seems to letting the recent crisis behind, as the team is getting much better in the tournament than the first roundups, something quite good indeed.
